June 7 webinar: How do I launch Attendance Awareness Month in my community? « Attendance Works


Attendance Works is a national and state initiative that promotes better policy and practice around school attendance. They promote tracking chronic absence data for each student beginning in kindergarten, or ideally earlier, and partnering with families and community agencies to intervene when poor attendance is a problem for students or schools.

 UCLA YouthSource Partners with Baby2Baby Agency!
Linda Garcia, LAUSD Pupil Services and Attendance (PSA) Counselor at the UCLA YouthSource Center, provided 18 year old Jessica and her 6 month old baby boy with a baby bath tub, bottles, bottle warmers and wipes that were all donated by Baby2baby. LAUSD Pupil Services works in partnership with Baby2baby, a nonprofit organization that supplies families in need with essential baby gear and clothing for their children up to age 12. PSA Counselors have access to this organization to help support the students and families they serve.
Jessica is currently attending Belmont Alternative Education and Work Center (AEWC) and is working on getting her high school diploma and GED. Jessica has already completed all class requirements and is now studying to take the GED exam. Once Jessica obtains her GED/High School diploma, she would like to pursue a career in business or criminal justice.
LAUSD Pupil Services is in Partnership with the City of Los Angeles and Community Development Department. A PSA Counselor is co-located at 16 YouthSource Centers throughout the city to serve at risk students and recover those who have dropped out of school. Friends of School Mental Health-20th Annual Awards Ceremony Dinner

Friends of School Mental Health will be hosting its annual awards ceremony dinner on May 9, 2013 at the Beverly Hills Country Club (3084 Motor Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90064). Social hour begins at 4:30pm, while dinner will be served  at 5:30pm. Awards presentations will begin at 6pm. Please join us as we celebrate our colleague, Selena Ledesma, who will be receiving the Rosalio Munoz Pupil Services and Attendance Award! She and the other recipients have shown outstanding compassion while rendering service to the youth of LAUSD. There will also be a silent auction! Cost: $30.

Parents attended a number of workshop topics on how to enroll, finance, and navigate the UC system!  The Grad Van pulled double duty providing resources and answering questions for both events!
